We allow you to take our rental cars to all corners of Uganda. Only, there are a number of areas off-limits when renting a Toyota RAV4.
Restricted areas for a RAV4 in Uganda
In Uganda, we do not allow the Toyota RAV4s to travel to Kidepo National Park and Karamoja area. All roads north of Pakwach – Lira – Soroti – Mbale are off limits with a RAV4. Would you like to travel to the Northeast of Uganda? Kindly note that a Hilux Double Cab or Landcruiser is required to visit these areas.
Restricted areas for a RAV4 in Tanzania
The RAV4 is not suitable for travel to the Serengeti, Lake Natron and Selous Game Reserve. Even if you’re only in transit to the Serengeti and might use a lodge vehicle for your games drives, it is still not possible, as it is not so much the dirt roads that’s the challenge, but the main gravel road from the park entrance to Seronera. This is a washboard ribbon road, for which a Landcruiser is required. As for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the RAV4 is only allowed for safaris in the Ngorongoro Crater, the rest of the NCA is off-limits and requires a Landcruiser.
Restricted areas for a RAV4 in Kenya
The RAV4 is not suitable to take into the parks of Kenya. It’s fine if you plan to travel to Nairobi or Mombasa/ Watamu and stick to the highway, but all Kenyan parks are off limit for a RAV4.
The restricted areas are listed in our rental Terms & Conditions. We will easily find out if a RAV4 enters this region through car trackers and our network of befriended lodge owners and drivers that travel across Uganda. It means the hirer has breached the contract and would therefore be fully liable for any costs and loss of security bond.
