The Rwenzori’s support an array of rare and endemic wildlife, stunning glaciers, beautiful waterfalls, lakes and rivers. So there is other shorter trails that offer easier treks such as the 3 days Mahoma loop. 1 day chimpanzee trail and 1 day kilembe trail. All our self-drivers have the opportunity to hike up to the highest peak. Provided they receive enough guidance and they follow what the guides are telling them.

Mountain Muhabura in Uganda

Mountain Muhabura in Uganda: In the chain of virunga mountains is mountain muhabura. Located on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. It is a challenging longer hike to the summit, taking about 5 hours, and it takes about as long to return. At the summit, there is a small crater lake that is easily accessed for views across the Virunga ranges. Mountain Muhabura in Uganda is 4127 meters above sea level.

Mgahinga Mountain in Uganda: This is a much smaller mountain of the three, situated between muhavura and sabinyo. It is a short and easier hike and its 3474meters above the sea level. At the summit, Crater Lake is larger and more difficult to navigate around in order to get better views.

It is the most challenging of the three because of more rugged terrain and with many craters. But the most fun and has the best views of the virunga stretching across all the three countries. It has three peak and look like three spaced teeth. Hence the local name sabinyo which translates ‘’old man’s teeth” mountain sabinyo is the 3645 meter above the sea level.

Sipi falls in Uganda

Sipi falls in Uganda: The Sipi falls is a set of three waterfalls (85m, 75m and 100m) and is situated along the foothill of mountain elgon. Hence is arguably most beautiful waterfalls you will encounter in Uganda and have become one of the iconic attraction of the eastern region. Sipi is easily accessible from Kampala and has become very popular for a day hike. The trek to visit all the three waters covers atrial of about 7km and on average you will take up to 3 hours to complete.
